Some of you who know me may know that I once managed to get a comment on the BBC’s famous “Quotes of the week” page. Well… this week I did it for a second time, with my victim being none other than loudmouthed under-achieving Oxford United reject and Rushden & Diamonds semi proffesional footballer Andy Burgess.

Rushden and Diamonds’ Andy Burgess on his ex-Oxford United team-mates, who beat Rushden 1-0 the next day, ensuring they would finish above the Diamonds in the Blue Square Premier League. Funny how things come back to bite you, eh Andy?

Whey, i am off on holiday for 6 days on Friday! I cant wait to be honest because as well as being a holiday its a chance to spend six days with my girlfriend. I’m flying with Ryanair who today got told off for using schoolgirls to promote their cheap term time fares… Apparently this insinuates that teenage girls are sexually provocative. Just a word of advise to the ASA… I think that was the point. Anyway, if they think that is bad I think they should be checking out various “Back to School” compilation CDs as they do much the same. Have these people nothing better to do?

In other news my beloved Oxford managed to make it 8 (maybe 9, I cant be arsed to check) away games without a win, despite allegedly putting in a  much improved display from previous weeks.

I support Oxford United Football Club, a disease which unfortunately has no cure.

A lot of people (young British male’s usually) complain about their chosen football teams trials and tribulations, but no fan can claim the same level of suffering as OUFC (well except maybe Wimbledon). Oxford United hold the unfortunate mantel of being the first and only club to have to have won a major domestic trophy and fallen into non-league (the fifth tier of English football). Since they won the 1986 League Cup the club has won one singular promotion and even then their bitter evil and twisted rivals Swindon Town won the league title.

Over the last seven years the club has failed to finish above the previous seasons league position.

Seeing as OUFC is one of my life’s simple little passions I will occasionally comment on their trials and tribulations.

Last night OUFC managed a 1-0 home loss against Weymouth, a team with 12 fit players who have not won a match since October. Happy days.
