"Look at it this way, say Kimi and Hamilton both took the short cut, would Hamilton have been so close to Kimi? I don’t think so."

Might I remind you that Hamilton was BESIDE Kimi before bothcing the chicane.
So your sentence doesn't make much sense.
I do believe he might have somewhat of an advantage by first forcing Kimi into the corner differently then he might have wanted to enter it, but the mere fact that Hamilton passed behind Kimi to his other side should have been seen as legitimately giving Kimi back his position.

Another issue is the fact that McLaren got told not once but TWICE by the race stewards that the move in question seemed legit.
Hamilton then losing the first place right away because of another car getting back on track didn't help him either and Kimi just made a stupid move to give Hamilton the win.

This was a great race ruined by the FIA yet again.

Its all a bunch of Arse. Ferrai whinge, something gets done! Black and white, Ferrari cant compete fairly, they get the rules bent for them. It was bad enough last season with one of THEIR engineers giving info to McLaren. Why weren't they punished for being unable to control their staff?????

Bottom line is Lewis Hamilton can beat Ferrari, but cant beat Ferrari AND the FIA!

By the way all u 'Ferrari Fans', what about Herr shumachers 'suspect driving'? Short memories eh!

Agreed. I think now (my anger has subsided somewhat) that Lewis maybe did gain an advantage... but he was the ebst driver on the day and deserved thw win... relegating him 10spots on the next race would have beena more sensible idea.

Well I have no idea how they settled on a 35 second penalty but one thing I have to say is that I can't seem to find a guideline or black and white instructions on how to penalise a driver according to his offence. It seems pretty inconsistent to me. Massa just held his ground and surely he didn't deserve 1st place but he couldn't help it that his team mate crashed out and LH was demoted.

Exciting race this one. Just that the way FIA handled the issue seems pretty adhoc and Im hoping they do come out with an explanation for the penalty before the race weekend.

I see what your saying, but Kimi crashed out anyway... and not through a Hamilton provoked error! Even if Lewis did gain an advantage, how is it fair that Massa wins?? If anything Lewis should have got a 10 place grid demotion... nothing more!

Guys I cannot agree with this notion. Look at it this way, had Hamilton followed Kimi around the track through the chicane he would not have been in a position to overtake so easily. Kimi would have been out of the turn before him hence being able to step on the gas earlier ergo...creating a gap, albeit a small one. taking that short cut did put Hamilton in a better position to overtake than would have been the case fi he had followed the track. Lest we not forget, Hamilton did make a mistake that caused him to go off the track.

So it is not about the overtaking that took place, it is about Hamilton being advantaged by the short cut. Look at it this way, say Kimi and Hamilton both took the short cut, would Hamilton have been so close to Kimi? I don't think so.

Just when I was starting to get interested in F1 again, this happens. I don't know what it is that causes the FIA to bend over to Ferrari time and time again but it makes me sick.

F1 was been dull for a long time and the past two seasons its started to become interesting again. Yet the FIA seem intent on killing of the excitement.

The way I feel right now, we would be far better of if F1 was canned. This farce of a sport is stupid, its being run by corrupt individuals who are blatantly fixing it for their team to win.

I am going to go back to ignoring F1 and watching the lower formulas instead. At least there they are still allowed to have exciting racing.
