getting to stanstead airport is the harder than Chuck Norris.

I’m off on my hols at the end of the month (to see lovely girlfriend, awww) something I would normally (and tbh still am) be jubilant about… I cleverly booked my flights with Ryan air for a whopping 2p return, which is brilliant except for one small problem… I have to fly from the dreaded stanstead airport.

Now this would not be a problem if I lived in say… London or Cambridge, but apparently is a problem if you live anywhere else. My check-in time is around 9:30ish and as a result no means of public transport can cater to my needs… (thank you Gordon and Tony). For example; to catch the bus I would have to leave Oxford at around 4.30am (and that does not include getting to Oxford)… this option would see me arrive 2 1/2 hours earlier than I was due to check in. If I wanted to catch the train a little later at 6:30… but then there is cost associated with traveling on Britain’s glorious rail network…

So I am forced to drive at my own leisure, in comfort and warmth, allowing me an extra hour in bed and to arrive on time… it also affords me the same benefits on the way home… and costs less… so maybe Stanstead being the other end of the country isn’t a bad thing after all!

  1. Dude… just drive to airparks (www.airparks.co.uk) and leave ur car there for £3 a day. It’s security guarded etc and a 5 min free bus ride to the airport..
It’s what i always do … the buses run directly to the departure terminal every 10-15 mins.

    :D
